"Tough times", this is what we actually hear from our colleagues from time to time. This may either refer to financial, career, or family struggle. If stress is eating you up all the time, the best solution for you is to step back and rethink whether you are in the right path.
WIth the ever changing landscape in today’s companies, organizations, and businesses some professionals are often left behind with their skills stagnant and unrealized potentials. It is quite a dismay considering the fact that vital information and trainings are within the reach of every professional’s fingertips. Technology has brought information closer to individuals, but sadly not all are capable of transforming such opportunity into something positive and productive. For professionals who were able to reap the benefits of information technology, it made their careers more appealing. Professionals were able to work and study at the same time with the aid of technology. Those who have no enough money, who are taking care of their kids, and who are experiencing travel difficulties are now able to continue their education by availing technology. Internet has brought webinar or web-based seminar into the scene. Webinar is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web using a video conferencing software. A key feature about a webinar is its interactive elements which gives opportunity to the participants the ability to give, receive and discuss information in real-time. Sharing of files Through the use of webinar softwares, participants are given the opportunity to share audio, documents and application with other webinar attendees. Saves you time and money In attending traditional classroom setup of education, it will require you to take long journeys which involve travelling time and expense, but a webinar eliminates the need to travel. Attending webinars make it easier for you. Webinars are easier to bail Unlike a traditional conference that you would go to a far place which is also expensive, thus it means that it is also difficult to bail in case the said seminar is a clunker. Leaving a traditional conference mean wasting a lot of money, and instead you are forced to listen and wait for your scheduled flight. On the other hand, it is easier to bail out in a webinar since it would just take a fingertip to close a window. How to Find Webinars It is not difficult to find webinars, in fact many people just sit back and wait to be inv Who says you you can only level up on the games you play, and not on your career? We often hear our colleagues, younger siblings, daughter or sons take pride whenever they level up on their favorite games! How about this, have you heard your colleague enthusiastically say that he has leveled up his career or he is taking steps to level up his career? No that often right or at least very minimal.
What if I tell you that you can now level up your career just like your online games. Similar to the virtual games you play, you also make plans, goals and hurdle some obstacles before you go to the next point. Leveling up in your career will give you twice or thrice the satisfaction and fulfillment than leveling up on your normal games. Some of us are afraid of leveling up on our careers thinking that it will trap us on heavier responsibilities, less time with family and so on, but have you ever considered the positive side of a promotion? It will give you endless possibilities, such as increase in financial gain, it will lead you to a greener pasture with other companies eyeing at you, you can spend more for your family’s needs and health and so on. If you will not seek for a higher level in your career, you will surely feel bored in the long run. We can associate this with careers or present position in the work field. How was it working through the year without any changes in your role? On games when one player levels up, the “I” feels the glory and fulfillment, where as leveling up in your chosen career means a great domino effect. It does not only the “I” that is being satisfied but the “we” and “us”. This means your family can benefit too, if you level up in your career. How do you level up? In creating a strategic plan, one must be knowledgeable enough with regard to the dynamics of the company. Risk Pooling is a theoretical concept that every supply chain manager needs to understand. A better understanding of risk pooling will strengthen your supply chain. According to Opsrules, risk pooling is a statistical concept that suggests that demand variability is reduced if one can aggregate demand, for example, across locations, across products or even across time. Through risk pooling aggregation reduces variability and uncertainty. Edith Simchi-Levi sited that if the demand is aggregated across different locations, it becomes more likely that high demand from one customer will be offset by low demand from another. The reduction in variability allows a decrease in safety stock and therefore reduces average inventory. Here are some of the situations where risk pooling should be considered in making decisions: 1.Transportation When the products as well as the warehouses are consolidated, the transportation costs becomes cheaper because the shipments can be sent in larger batches. 2. Product Design The decisions with regard to the number of choices as well as to the complexity in products can benefit from the risk pooling considerations. When there is less color choices or options the simpler the demand forecast and many aspects of the supply chain since the aggregated demand is easier to determine according to Simchi-Levi of Opsrules. 3. Postponement Another thing that Simchi-Levi sited is the postponement. According to her, delayed differentiation in product design by creating a more generic product and adding some of the details once demand is revealed. This allows the use of aggregated demand for the generic product which is much more accurate than the demand for the differentiated products. Benetton is famous for using postponement tactics at the actual sequencing point of the production process, whereby dying of the garments is not completed until the agent network have provided market intelligence on what particular products are in demand in which locations. 4. Warehouse Location Decisions concerning the location and number of warehouses should consider the risk of pooling effects. Simichi-Levi added that by centralizing a product in one location, you can take advantage of the aggregated demand. On the other hand, you need to consider proximity to customers and other factors that may push towards maintaining more warehouses. The characteristics of each product also comes into play here as high demand products with low variability are not impacted as much by the risk pooling effect while low volume high variability products are highly vulnerable. These are just some of the risk pooling situations that you need to consider.
